Jamie McKee is the director of Altum’s Grants Management Operations group. He is passionate about exploration and grantmaking. His vision includes technology-enabled grantmaking, which helps available funding make our world a better place.
Through his extensive work with grantmaking non-profits in health care, government agencies and research organizations, Jamie brings unique insight to the challenges and opportunities facing grant makers today. Additionally, Jamie identifies opportunities for technology and process optimization to improve and extend grants management capabilities. His team has helped clients achieve lower overhead costs, shorter application and selection processes and improved oversight and relationships with their grantees.
Jamie’s work successfully led a consortium through the development of a collaborative business solution – proposalCENTRAL – a unique portal shared by 40 different grantmaking organizations. From this single website, biomedical researchers apply for over $400 million in grants from over 150 diverse grant programs. For grantors, proposalCENTRAL eliminates mountains of paper applications, enables faster selection of grantees and lowers processing costs.
In the early 1990s, at the leading edge of e-commerce for grants, Jamie also guided a consortium of research universities in developing software to ease the administrative burden on research scientists. The software enabled better information management and faster start-up of grant projects. The consortium, in cooperation with government research agencies, demonstrated the benefits of electronic applications and provided the foundation for what is now grants.gov.
Jamie is a frequent speaker on business transformation and e-commerce for grants.
