Grants Management Case Study

Client: Alzheimer’s Association
Industry: Non-Profit
Project: Grants Management System
Product: proposalCENTRAL

Challenge: In the 1990s, the Alzheimer’s Association was growing dramatically. The organization had been using a paper-based system and needed a more efficient process to handle a larger volume of grants without making additional hires.

Altum Answer: The Alzheimer’s Association adopted proposalCENTRAL to address the challenge of understaffing and to create a collaborative environment that could take advantage of the larger Alzheimer scientific community. To this end, proposalCENTRAL enables 5,000 volunteer reviewers to support the Alzheimer’s Association in peer reviews of grant applications conducted entirely online.

Result: The Alzheimer’s Association achieved one of the lowest overhead rates for a grants management operation. proposalCENTRAL also helped the organization save money by eliminating costly paper-related mistakes. The Association also saved time by resolving reviewer differences online rather than via face-to-face meetings.

I would like to commend the Altum staff for its efforts in developing and refining the coding rollover process. Their knowledge of the grants process, the scripts, the data, their understanding of the processes that need to take place and the way they scrutinized the data has been impressive. They have worked tirelessly and we appreciate the endless hours they have spent on this project. Their attention to detail and diligence to complete this project will make it a success. I look forward to working with this team on future projects.
