Challenge: The American Cancer Society’s paper process was slowing down the grant process to the point that application, review and selection was averaging nine months. Additionally, the organization had to manage multiple copies of each application, distribute piles of paper to external experts for peer review and receive and collate reviews for meetings. Two grant cycles per year, each taking nine months to complete, were putting undo strain on staff.
Altum Answer: Altum brought the American Cancer Society’s grants management process online via proposalCENTRAL’s collaborative platform. Applications were distributed with a click of a mouse, and score and reviews could be tabulated immediately.
Result: The organization’s standard cycle was reduced from nine months to less than six months. Overlap was eliminated, and the American Cancer Society was able to offer requests for applications (RFAs) throughout the year thanks to the smaller volume and shorter cycle created by proposalCENTRAL’s highly efficient process.
