Client and Project Title: Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada
Industry: Non-Profit
Product: Easygrants
Challenge: The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada was funding over $10 million in MS-related research in areas of personnel awards, operating grants, pilot grants and collaborative/multi-disciplinary grants, each with their own application-review-manage process. The management of these funds had the following issues:
- Absence of a formalized data bank of grant information, which made milestone tracking and statistical reporting difficult and unreliable
- Reliance on a web-based application hosted outside of the Society
- Heavy knowledge dependence on a single resource (the manager of research and operations)
Altum Answer: Altum implemented an internally hosted end-to-end grants management solution with unique workflows for each existing funding area as well as for additional areas to manage ongoing MS research funding.
Result: The single system for managing workflows gave the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada easier and consistent reporting on all grants management data, including the tracking of grantee milestones. Additionally, the Society no longer depends on a single resource for information and has more control over the grants management process thanks to internal hosting.
