SESSION
FORMAT: There will be no Power Point presentations this time but rather good old
fashioned group dialogue. We will sit in a circle and engage in facilitated
dialogues based on several philosophical experiments from the 100 described in
the book. These experiments are each presented in about 2½ pages and they raise
interesting questions related to some of the major branches of philosophy, e.g,
logic, epistemology, metaphysics and ethics. We are looking for 10 volunteers
to describe two experiments and facilitate group dialogues about them using 5
minutes for each of them. 10 x 2 x 5 = 100 minutes (1 hour 40 minutes). If
this appeals to you just let Jim DeLeo know that you are willing to volunteer.
You can pick your two experiments whenever you want. If there is overlap, so
what. We’ll just repeat the experiments. We would like to know who is
committed to doing this ASAP so we can be sure we have enough support for
this program. Please let Jim DeLeo know at once if you are interested by
e-mailing him at
jdeleo@nih.gov. This should be lots of fun and very educational too! We
will be describing this session in an article for the Journal of Clinical
Chemistry. If you have reporter writing experience and would like to help in
drafting this article please let Jim DeLeo know that too.
