U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Nominated As An Excellence.Gov Finalist For Altum, Inc.'s SCS OnDemand

Reston, VA. January 16, 2007 - Altum, Inc. is pleased to announce that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) National Institutes of Health (NIH) has been nominated as one of the top 20 finalists of the 2007 Industry Advisory Council’s (IAC’s) Excellence.Gov awards for its Scientific Coding System (SCS) OnDemand system. SCS OnDemand, developed by NIH’s Center for Information Technology (CIT) and Altum, Inc., was chosen for its demonstrated collaboration and innovation, as well as effectiveness, efficiency, security, privacy and cost savings. Earlier this month, SCS OnDemand was recognized with an NIH Award of Merit in recognition of the team’s significant contributions towards the initiation, management, and technical support of the Scientific Coding System OnDemand service offering.

SCS OnDemand is a grants tracking and reporting system that assists NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) in producing the statutorily required annual reports to Congress on close to $30B in grants and contracts. SCS OnDemand was created through the collaboration of nine NIH Institutes and Centers, consolidating several stove-pipe scientific coding systems into a single enterprise solution providing enormous cost savings to the participants. NIH Institutes and Centers to be recognized for this achievement include:

·         Center for Information Technology

·         Fogarty International Center

·         National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine

·         National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism

·         National Institute of Nursing Research

·         National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering

·         National Institute of Mental Health

·         National Human Genome Research Institute

·         National Institute of Deafness and Other Communication Disorders

Rakesh Nayak, Altum’s Federal Practice Vice President mentioned, “We applaud the leadership of NIH, and the individuals at each Institute and Center, for their vision and enthusiasm to work together to create such a powerful solution. We congratulate NIH on attaining this nomination and thank them for choosing Altum to help them achieve their mission.”
