Altum, Inc. signs agreement with the Georgia Cancer Coalition to use proposalCENTRAL for e-Grantmaking

Reston, VA. September 26, 2007 - Altum, Inc. announced today that the Georgia Cancer Coalition has selected proposalCENTRAL as their e-Grantmaking solution. The Georgia Cancer Coalition is an independent, not-for-profit organization with the goal to strengthen cancer prevention, research and treatment in Georgia and to make Georgia one of the nation’s premier states for cancer care.

By choosing proposalCENTRAL, the Georgia Cancer Coalition will be able to streamline and accelerate their grants process - receiving, reviewing, selecting and awarding grants to the most qualified applicants. The first electronic grant application went online April 30 for the Distinguished Cancer Clinicians and Scientists Program. This grant program is the cornerstone of the Georgia Cancer Coalition’s research agenda. The goal of the program is to assist Georgia’s research universities, medical and nursing schools, and other institutions in recruiting top cancer researchers to Georgia from other states or countries who are engaged in the most promising areas of cancer research.

Grant applications are reviewed by a Scientific Review Committee, composed of experts in various fields of cancer research, and an Advisory Review Committee, composed of representatives from stakeholders throughout the state. Using proposalCENTRAL, the electronic applications can be easily and quickly distributed to reviewers who then provide scores and written feedback online. The results of the review process are immediately available to the Coalition and the Advisory Review Committee, in a rank-ordered list of applications for discussion and selection of the best candidates for funding.

As Kate Canterbury, Director of Grants for the Georgia Cancer Coalition points out, “This new relationship between Altum and the Georgia Cancer Coalition is an example of the growing need for organizations to utilize e-commerce solutions to improve productivity. In the future, the Coalition will be able to utilize the information in proposalCENTRAL about funded proposals and outcomes to show the increase in research productivity and demonstrate the return on investment in our grant funding programs.”

"Altum is pleased to welcome the Georgia Cancer Coalition to proposalCENTRAL. By shifting from a paper-based application and review process to an electronic one, our clients have found that they can more efficiently manage the application, review and selection process. Our goal with proposalCENTRAL is to help the Georgia Cancer Coalition and other grantmaking organizations, shorten their review cycle so that they can get their grant funds into the hands of researchers earlier," stated Jamie McKee, a Director from Altum, Inc.
