Altum helps the National Library of Medicine Launch ChemIDplus Lite

Reston, VA. October 15, 2003 - Altum Inc. is proud to announce that the National Library of Medicine (NLM) has launched ChemIDplus Lite (http://chem2.sis.nlm.nih.gov/chemidplus), a free, web-based search system that provides access to over 368,000 chemical compounds, their structures, relevant articles, and related information. The new ChemIDplus Lite website allows users to quickly search the database by Name or CAS Registry Number. All structures display as GIF images, so no plugin or applet is required to use the `Lite' version.

Altum, Inc. provided software development and database expertise to assist the NLM in the development and deployment of the new website.

Christopher Hilt, the Technical Director of Altum's Federal Systems Group stated, "Chemistry is one of the fastest growing sciences in terms of number of publications. The rapid growth of chemical knowledge creates a need for efficient and targeted access to chemical compounds and related information. ChemIDplus Lite facilitates this and is a major accomplishment by the National Library of Medicine."
