Altum Helps Take eGrants to the Cloud

The American Reinvestment and Recovery Act appropriated $7.2 billion for the Department of Agriculture’s Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and the Department of Commerce’s National Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) to expand broadband access and adoption in communities across the U.S. Among the goals: increase jobs, spur investments in technology and infrastructure, and provide long-term economic benefits. Among the challenges: distributing the grant and loan funding with maximum speed and impact at an affordable price.

With the help of Altum and our EasygrantsTM software, the Department of Commerce’s National Technical Information Service (NTIS) met every challenge, standing up an eGrants cloud architecture to support the multi-agency, multi-billion dollar program in just six weeks.

NTIS’s success caught the attention of the National Grants Management Association (NGMA), who described the effort as, “A cutting edge account of the success of cloud computing for eGrants,” in their Winter 2010 edition of the Journal of the National Grants Management Association. In fact, NGMA featured the program and what they describe as the growing significance of internet-based grants management in their latest Journal, which you can read in PDF format by clicking below.
