Altum, Inc., Wins Corporate Philanthropy Award

Reston, VA, June 6, 2013 – Altum, Inc. and Helping Hungry Kids, a nonprofit that supplies children with food for the weekends, were the winners of the MassMutual Citizenship Award during the Washington Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Awards on June 6th. The award recognizes a powerful partnership between a corporation and a nonprofit organization that supports women and families.

“When it comes to hungry kids in the D.C. area, there is a bigger need than anyone could imagine,” said Altum CEO Steve Pinchotti. “By working with our non-profit partner, HHK, and being passionate about the work we do with our non-profit customers, we at Altum feel that it’s important for companies to give back to the community in any way they can.”

HHK utilizes Altum’s office space to store food for the children and every Wednesday volunteers from HHK and Altum work together to pack meal bags for the kids to eat on weekends. The number of bags packed has grown from 80 bags a week to more than 300 bags per week. The bags are distributed to Dogwood Elementary, Clearview, and Hutchinson elementary schools, as well as Langston Hughes Middle School, Food for Others, Reston Interfaith, and Falls Bridge Alternative High School.
